COMPANY PROFILE
My father Haji Mohammad Ramzan Goroo (1919 - 2007) being in tourism and houseboat business and having grown among carpets in Kashmir gained exhaustive knowledge about carpets. He would evaluate the quality, make, value and infect the entire “history” of a carpet at a glance. Having the experience and endured the toils and labor involved in the production of hand woven carpets did not consider carpets as a commodity but looked upon them as beings having life and feeling.
After my Masters Degree in The University of Kashmir all the knowledge was passed on to me in the family and our love for carpets and carpet trading, we established PARADISE CRAFTS in 1965 along with few other companies involved in tourism etc. In years nothing changed our passion for carpets, but made it even stronger. Our love for carpets has enticed us to participate in innumerable carpet exhibitions held in various parts of the world.
With no branches any where else, PARADISE CRAFTS is based in Srinagar at ISHBER near the famous (land mark) Mughal garden NISHAT on the main road, we own a two storied warehouse of over 15000 Square feet full of hand made woolen, silk and wool and silk carpets in various sizes, colors, designs and prices which are made by the adept hands of Kashmiri craftsmen all over the Kashmir Valley.
What attracts us in the business is not a financial aspect of it but a chance to deal with something we love and what we are interested in being more of Rug-fanatics than of merchants. We bagged 2 prestigious National awards (besides a number of other awards) for the Outstanding Export Performance in export of silk carpets from Kashmir, which is a life time achievement for us. Being largest in Kashmir, our warehouse is daily visited by more than 90 % of the Domestic and International tourists (buying in both retail and wholesale) visiting the beautiful Vale of Kashmir. They feel that without visiting us, their trip to Kashmir is incomplete.
We are proud to mention here that we are listed in the 10th Edition of the world famous Guide Book “Lonely Planet” India page No.326.
We have played a commendable role in elevating the reputation, status and sales of the company. The company owes its success and sound standing to the expertise and proficiency of my late beloved father Haji Mohammad Ramzan Goroo in managing and navigating it successfully through rain and sunshine. During the hard days and difficult times, my father has always been a source of inspiration for the whole family, staff, boosting their morale and encouraging them by being their friend, guide and philosopher.
